The SELCTV (pronounced "selective") database was created in 1986/87 by Karen M. Theiling, then a research student working towards a Master's thesis, under the supervision of Professor Brian Croft in the Department of Entomology at Oregon State University, Corvallis (Oregon, USA.). The database represents a relatively comprehensive compilation of the worldwide published literature describing pesticide effects on non-target arthropods (Theiling & Croft, 1988) during the period from 1921 to 1985, with a small number of entries from publications dated between 1986 and 1994. The principal database table contains approximately 12000 data records, 99.7% of which originate from the pre-1986 literature. Each record in the principal table represents one screening of a pesticide on one natural enemy taxon under conditions described in the source publication. Although SELCTV is considerably out of date, it may still be useful for visitors wanting information from the years indicated, and so has been made freely available in this on-line version. There are currently no plans for further development of the database or for any additional data entry.
If you happen to get lost while exploring the SELCTV database web pages, just look for the "Up" or "Home" menu links which can usually be found at the top and bottom of each page. [If not presently visible, try the following link: SELCTV top page]
