Current and Future Initiatives in
IPM in Schools

The Program’s involvement in School IPM is in its initial stages. We plan to increase it slowly, but surely over the next three-year period:
Goals for 2008
- Continue gathering information and making contacts related to School IPM in Oregon, learning what the major issues are, and what development and implementation mechanisms have worked here and in other states. Continue contacts with the Portland Public School District’s IPM Program, EPA’s National School IPM Program, the IPM Star Program, the Oregon School Facilities Management Association, and the School IPM Programs in Arizona, California, Florida, and Washington.
- Participate in a Western Region School IPM Working Group.
Goals for 2009
- Bring together a coalition and/or working group of interested and affected parties to layout a plan for improving pest management in schools.
- Begin working with one or two school districts to develop and implement an IPM Program.
- Participate in a Western Region School IPM Working Group.
Goals for 2010
- Continue working with the coalition and/or working group to improve IPM Programs and expand to other schools.
- Work with at least one school to acquire IPM Star certification.
- Participate in a Western Region School IPM Working Group.
